The Warrington Safeguarding Adults Board is pleased to offer a bespoke event for third sector organisations working directly with vulnerable adults. The aim of the event is to upskill Safeguarding Adult Leads within organisations to better understand their roles and responsibilities in relation to the care act 2014.

Aim: To assist Safeguarding Leads in medium to large third sector organisations to understand the current legislative requirements around safeguarding activity, particularly in relation to Section 42 enquiries and People in Positions of Trust.

Areas identified for focus from the sector-wide adult safeguarding survey are:

  1. Recognising modern slavery and organisational abuse
  2. Understanding when and how to report concerns to the police and,
  3. How police investigations impact safeguarding activity,
  4. Understanding what Section 42 is and how you will be involved in these,
  5. Recognising recruitment responsibilities and role referrals to DBS when you have concerns about people in positions of trust
  6. Be aware of advocacy in relation to the Care Act and the distinction of this from people acting as 'representatives'
  7. The role of WSAB and the multi-agency procedures.
