Safety Central

Safety Central is Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service's (CFRS) interactive life-skills centre in Lymm. The centre educates communities across Cheshire and Warrington about staying safe, keeping healthy and being happy. Our volunteer Rangers guide groups of all ages around the centre, which has a series of immersive learning zones including a three-bedroom house and full-size street. They engage with visitors so that they think about how they can avoid harm and improve their wellbeing across a range of life-like situations. All Rangers receive initial training through a Ranger Academy before they shadow an experience volunteer until they feel confident to deliver activities independently. Ongoing development training is also provided. Our volunteers benefit from helping to make a real difference to the lives of others, learning new knowledge and skills, and meeting new people.

Sanctuary Housing

Smart Scrimpers

We are a group of people who got together over common interests. We believed that we could save a fortune by applying and sharing our skills, hobbies or know-how. We realized that the cost of living could be lower if we pooled resources. Realizing that that's what people used to do as a community we decided to find a place to meet up and open it up to anyone else who wanted to be smart about saving money. Funding from the Health Lottery has enabled us to hire a regular weekly venue. It has given us the opportunity to invite guest tutors for anything from basic car maintainance to reupholstery and enabled us to buy equipment to allow us to complete projects. We believe that everyone has got time, knowledge, tips, skills or know how that they can share. So if you want to meet new people, have a brew and a laugh, learn something new and become a super smart Scrimper come round and join in.
