Men's Support Resources

It can be said that a lot of men aren't always great at looking after themselves all the time.  Here you will find a list of resources that your organisation can share with the men you are connected to so they can find the support they need.  You can share them on social media or recommend them in your contact with them.

There is a broad range of services available for men and the list below is just a selection to inspire ideas.  Especially around mental health and men's cancers, there are multiple options.  Shop around and see what works for your organisation's culture / ethos.

Some hints and tips:

  • Never assume every man is the same and all men like / want / need the same things.
  • Don't preach about these things or force them, offer them as suggestions.
  • Explain what the service is useful for, especially if you are posting on social media.  Context is everything.
  • Encourage the man to do his research and look around to find something that suits him.
  • If he is embarrassed about looking for help, tell him he can always remove his search history.  Instructions here.
  • It can be easy to give up at the first hurdle, mishap or service that didn't feel right.  Encourage him to try again.

Through all of this, please try and approach it with the mantra: Asking for help is a sign of strength not of weakness.
