Reopening - Things To Think About

As more places reopen, we learn about the new measures that are being put in place.  Here are some things gathered from various reports.

Always seek support and guidance from an organisation you trust before making decisions and taking action on reopening.

Some of this guidance has been inspired by the Close Contact Services Guidance as it can be argued that the friendly and supportive nature of the services that community organisations provide can often bring people into the same close contact.

Venues

You may have been displaced because your venue is no longer available or no longer suitable.  If you are looking for a new venue and don't know where to start contact the WVA Team.

When looking for a venue do still consider some of the other elements (transport links, accessibility, facilities etc).  A few people have gotten so caught up in C19 that they have forgotten to think about the other basics.

Documentation

Have you completed a Risk Assessment and a Working Safely Document?  If you need support with either document contact Bryan.

Payments

Most businesses are heavily encouraging the use of digital payments to reduce the handling of cash.  Consider how this could be done with the people that pay you.

Not everyone likes / trusts / has access to digital banking and therefore this isn't always possible, so consider what hygiene practises you can put in place when you have to deal with money.

Booking / Advanced Warning

As community groups and spaces we are pretty used to people just turning up out of the blue and expecting to be seen.  If you are trying to maintain a 'bubble' then this external person can be a risk to that, especially if you haven't had the chance to think about welcoming them in.

You may want to think about signage or letting people know that you are open to seeing them but they will have to make an appointment beforehand to allow you to prepare.

Equipment

If you use the same equipment for multiple members or have communal spaces, what is your cleaning schedule and how are you going to be able to sanitise between sessions?  We have collated some thoughts on cleaning.

Extras

The provision of drinks and refreshments is discouraged for infection control because of the crockery and cutlery.  Places are encouraging people to bring their own or are examining ways in which they can use disposable materials.

Temporary Records / Test and Trace

This is currently not a definite for community venues but hospitality and beauty businesses and taking the details of their customers and keeping them for 21 days in case there is the need for them to be contacted through Test and Trace.  We are including this just so you are aware that it could be part of your responsibility when reopening occurs.
