Soup & Chat
The Soup and Chat Project bubbled to the surface in January 2022
Our mission is to reduce social isolation and loneliness in Warrington and support people who may be feeling vulnerable.
As the Covid Pandemic was coming to an end, an emphasis was put on those who needed support in regaining their confidence in getting back out and socialising. The Soup and Chat Project was set up to support community groups and individuals with this process.
The Soup and Chat Project Aims to:
- Support community groups, charities and organisations with hosting Soup and Chat events in their local communities.
- Provide safe and friendly environments for individuals to get together with friends or meet new people and enjoy a cuppa or a bowl of soup.
- Bring awareness, to a wide audience, of all the Soup and Chat events and similar events going on around Warrington.
- Bring added value to events through activities and presentations.
If your group would like to host an event here is what the Soup and Chat Project can do:
- Provide posters and flyers that can be adapted for each event. We can also send you a digital copy that can be edited.
- Provide relevant leaflets which give public health messages to be distributed to attendees.
- Help attendees with any issues they may have, through research and signposting.
- Share details of the events with WVA Team members, on our Facebook page and with other organisations to increase event awareness.
- Help secure extra activities that can be incorporated into the events such as chair-based exercise sessions; mini health checks for attendees.
- Help source food donations for the events
- Provide a feedback form to collect relevant data from the event.
As well as giving practical support, WVA can also provide a wealth of knowledge that can help community groups with funding, digital issues, social media enhancement, and recruiting new volunteers. We can also help your group to grow through Reflect and EQIS.
We can provide other resources and information to help with the smooth running of your Soup and Chat events. Food Hygiene is a consideration and we can give you advice on what is needed depending on whether you are hosting a one off event or a series of events.
If you would like to attend an event we have a list of up-coming events. The list includes all the Soup and Chat events that have been set up. It also includes some regular events, around Warrington, that are also helping to get people out and socialising!
