Keeping in Touch Volunteers for Alzheimer's Society

Role Type: Casual
Based: All of Warrington
Categories: Information and advice, Supporting people
Availability: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

What would I be doing?

Join our volunteer team telephone-based dementia support service based in Warrington and help provide vital support to people affected by dementia.

You will make calls to people affected by dementia as part of our ‘Keeping in Touch’ service to ask how they are doing. You will provide information, make referrals and enable people living with dementia to access support that will benefit them.
If you like to talk, are a good listener and passionate about helping people, we would love to hear from you. You’ll receive expert training and support to give you the confidence, skills and knowledge to help people get the support they need.
As a Keeping in Touch volunteer, you can make a genuine difference to people’s lives. A little time makes a huge difference!

What skills do I need?

You don't need direct experience of volunteering or working with people living with dementia. You need to be willing to learn and prepared to deliver the best possible standard of service.
Have a desire to enable people living with Dementia to access the right support and to be perceptive and be able to demonstrate empathy with others. Being part of a team and delivering person-centred support is at the core of this role.

About Alzheimer's Society

Since 1979, we have reached hundreds and thousands of people with our services, changed the conversation on dementia, invested missions in research and campaign hard for people affected by the disease to have the support they deserve.
Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today.
Whether you’re a fundraiser, donor, partner, or affected by dementia in any way, we’re working with you to build a movement.
Inspired by your voices, we’re leading the way in support, society and research. As the largest and most influential dementia charity in the UK, we are calling on everyone to unite. Working together we know we will achieve our vision - a world without dementia.
