Telephone Befriender for Home-Start Warrington

What would I be doing?

Volunteers will be trained to support families/ another parent emotionally. Initially support will be provided through telephone volunteer may wish to progress to zoom sessions with the whole family encouraging play with children or story time. Once we are permitted to meet face to face again volunteers will be given the opportunity to do so if they wish.

What skills do I need?

Parents are needed to offer support to other parents. Volunteers need empathy, confidentiality skills. Be a good listener, non- judgemental and understand boundaries. This role gives great satisfaction, builds confidence and the opportunity to learn new skills through the training provided.

We are there for parents when they need us the most because childhood can’t wait. Home-Start works with families in communities right across the UK.

Recruitment and training details:

At this time, training is all online, completed in your own home in your own time, within a certain time frame. Occasional Zoom meetings take place.
