Assistant Scout Leader for 19th Warrington Culcheth Methodist Scout Group

What would I be doing?

As part of this role you will deliver a safe, fun and active programme for young people aged 10- 14 years.
You will be part of a team of people varying in age and backgrounds. Your role will include planning and delivering a balanced programme, outlined by the Scout Association. Activities are inside and outside. With the possibility to include night’s away experience with a view of providing young people with skills needed for life.

What skills do I need?

To be able to work in a small team enthusiastically and have good communication skills with all age ranges, helping to provide fun, practical activities safely.
This is Community work where you see the young people develop and mature. This role will allow you to develop your own skills to enhance your CV.

About 19th Warrington Culcheth Methodist Scout Group

The Scout Association is a charity which was set up over 100 years ago by Robert Baden- Powell. He focused on developing young people and that core theme still holds true today. We are the largest Youth Organisation preparing more young people with skills for life.

Recruitment and training details:

Appointment Requirements: Receive a successful DBS via the Scout Association. Must successfully complete the appointment process (including acceptable personal enquiries and acceptance of The Scout Association's policies). The Scout Association has an extensive adult training programme which includes some mandatory training around 1st Aid, Safeguarding and Safety which needs renewal every 3 years.
During the 5 months of Provisional Appointment the relevant Getting Started modules must be completed and a Wood Badge must be completed within three years of Full Appointment, as well as ongoing safeguarding and safety training.

Regular 2.5 hour per week commitment during school term: 7.15 – 9.30 on Monday afternoons. (Flexibility can be built in to suit needs.)
There may be other times outside these core times for extending the activities provided through “one offs”
