What would I be doing?

Good Neighbours are looking for Walking buddies, to support someone who is socially isolated and/or lonely to help them feel more connected in their community.

If you enjoy walking and talking to new people, this is the role for you!
We will aim to match you with someone who lives in/or near your area, where possible.

The walks should not be too long or strenuous, this would depend on the health and mobility of the person being supported. Days and times will be agreed between you, the volunteer, and the person you’re supporting, so could potentially be any day of the week.

What skills do I need?

That you are in reasonable physical health to undertake regular walks.
Walking Buddy volunteers will need to be 18 years of age or over.

About Good Neighbour Project

Good Neighbours support people who are feeling lonely, socially isolated, have limited or no support around them, and need help with the little things. This could be anything from a friendly telephone call to help with carrying out a variety of practical tasks. Small things that can really make a big difference!

Recruitment and training details:

A meeting will take place to discuss the role in further detail with the Good Neighbour project. No DBS is required. Transport would be an advantage
