Is this opportunity suitable for someone looking to participate / first-time volunteer?: Yes

What would I be doing?

Making Space is looking for volunteers passionate about Music!

Making space would like Volunteer group facilitators that can teach or overlook the music group so that they get the best out of the instruments that they play and feel good in themselves.

Music is in everything around us. Music can be found everywhere in our world. It helps people find themselves, and helps them through hard times that we all face in our lives. Music gives us a way to express ourselves and show how we feel inside ourselves that we don't usually let people see.

As a volunteer Music group facilitator you would:
Take the lead in the organising the set up and running of the group. This would include being a contact for the group.
Work with members of the group to identify what the group wants to achieve.
Support people to get involved in the group activities.
Work with the group to decide the ground rules and encouraging members to abide to them.

What skills do I need?

It is desirable for a music group facilitator to be conversant with music and some instruments, so that they can teach our members a new skill or improve the skills that they have. Ideally, if you have experience in working with people with mental health conditions would be excellent, but not essential.
