What would I be doing?

As a volunteer evening befriender, you will be volunteering a few hours a week in the evening by speaking to new members who may be anxious waiting for their appointment.

This volunteer role gives you the opportunity to make a difference in someone's life by giving them your time and making them feel at ease.

What skills do I need?

No qualifications are needed but some experience with supporting people with a mental health condition is useful.

We are looking for volunteers that are good listeners, positive, patient, who want to help others and who are good with people.

Making Space is a national charity and leading provider of adult health and social care services. We provide care and support in the community, in people's own homes, as well as specialist residential care services for vulnerable adults and carers.

People receive support that is personalised to them to promote their independence, build confidence and help them with achieving their goals and aspirations

As part of the application process, a DBS check may be done, depending on the role. This is free of charge and support will be given with this. A positive disclosure does not disqualify you from volunteering with us.
