Sunday Lunch Club Organiser for Making Space

Role Type: Regular
Based: All of Warrington
Categories: Supporting people
Does this opportunity include close supervision / mentoring?: Yes
Does this opportunity require independent working?: Yes
Is this opportunity suitable for someone looking to participate / first-time volunteer?: Yes

What would I be doing?

We are looking for volunteers to run a Sunday Lunch Club, which will include cooking and organising the lunch. We have a great kitchen with plenty of equipment.

Food and socialising have always gone hand in hand. But for some people who live alone without relatives or a support network nearby, mealtimes can be a lonely time of day

What skills do I need?

No qualifications are needed but some experience with supporting people with a mental health condition is useful. Ideally, we would like you to have some knowledge of mental health conditions, this is useful but not essential.

We are looking for people that are reliable, caring and have a friendly manner.

A food hygiene certificate would be desirable, but we can offer you the training to get the certificate if you haven't already got one.

About Making Space

Making Space is a national charity and leading provider of adult health and social care services. We provide care and support in the community, in people's own homes, as well as specialist residential care services for vulnerable adults and carers.

Warrington Day Centre is a space for people living with mental health conditions to socialise and to get involved in meaningful activities to help build confidence and skills to support people to achieve their goals.

On average, around 20 to 30 people go to the centre on Allen Street regularly. They get involved in various activities such as cooking groups, health and wellbeing, music, quizzes and sometimes people like to sit and chat with someone.
