Fire Cadet Volunteer for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service

What would I be doing?

As a cadet volunteer you will support the scheme in providing the cadets with an insight into working within a uniformed service. In a team environment, cadet volunteers promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing by organising structured activities which develop cadets to make informed decisions, regarding their future career and life opportunities.
The duration of the drill night is normally 3 hours and will take place on the same evening each week.

What skills do I need?

The skills needed for this volunteer role are that volunteers must be organised and have good communication skills. Volunteers must also be reliable.

About Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service

Cheshire Fire Authority comprises of councillors from our local communities of Cheshire, Halton and Warrington who manage the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. They make decisions on things like policy, finance and resources. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is led by the Chief Fire Officer and the Service Management Team. We have 28 fire stations, four community safety centres, three community fire protection offices, a safety centre in Lymm and a headquarters in Winsford.

Recruitment and training details:

Following a written application and if successful at interview, the applicant will be asked to complete a Disclosure and Barring form (DBS), plus 3 forms of ID. Once all of this paperwork is received, references are requested and on return of these and the DBS certificate, volunteer agreements are sent to the applicant’s home address. When returned the line manager will be informed that the volunteer has been successful in their application.
