Volunteering Opportunities
Heritage Team Member for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are proud to have a fleet of vintage fire vehicles.
As a Heritage Team volunteer you will drive and display all of these machines to various events. Other duties include maintenance, polishing and restoration of the machines. We do all this to conserve these vehicles for future generations to enjoy.
The heritage team and vehicles represent Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service in promotional campaigns and have appeared in television drama productions.
Volunteers will need to have a full driver’s license. You don’t necessarily have to hold an LGV licence although it would be great if you have one.
Cheshire Fire Authority comprises of councillors from our local communities of Cheshire, Halton and Warrington who manage Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. They make decisions on things like policy, finance and resources. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is led by the Chief Fire Officer and the Service Management Team. We have 28 fire stations, four community safety centres, three community fire protection offices, a safety centre in Lymm and a headquarters in Winsford.
Following a written application and if successful at interview, the applicant will be asked to complete a Disclosure and Barring form (DBS), plus 3 forms of ID. Once all of this paperwork is received, references are requested and on return of these and the DBS certificate, volunteer agreements are sent to the applicant’s home address. When returned the line manager will be informed that the volunteer has been successful in their application.
