Empowering Communities Fund (UKSPF)

Warrington Voluntary Action are pleased to host the Empowering Communities Fund, supported by UKSPF.

Through the Empowering Communities Fund, we are able to support local projects and organisations which:

  • Support opportunities for people to connect to local groups and activities

  • Improve the capacity and/or sustainability of projects

  • Address a gap or need which has been identified within the community. This must be evidenced as part of the application.

  • Are based in Warrington

Based on the funding criteria, we are particularly keen to invest in community groups which are developing new activities, or helping existing activities, where gaps in services have been identified. These activities, as much as possible, should be open to all.

What can we apply for?

The Empowering Communities Fund (UKSPF) will provide grants for community-led projects. These grants will prioritise new or grassroots organisations working directly with people in their communities. This could be either through existing work or by piloting new approaches.

Grants will be available for either;

  • Up to £5,000 grants – assessed by a panel monthly or,

  • £5,001 - £15,000 – assessed by a panel quarterly.

Upcoming Panel Dates: (deadline for each panel round is 1 week before panel date)

  • 26th November 2024 - £5k bids

  • 11th December 2024 - £15k bids

  • January 2025 - £5k bids

  • February 2025 - £5k bids

The Empowering Communities Fund is unable to fund:

  • Individuals

  • Grants solely for the provision of bursaries to individuals or families

  • Statutory organisations (schools, hospitals, councils) for statutory projects, activities or initiatives

  • Salaries to continue an existing project. (We are able to fund staffing costs where there is an element of sustainability to support coordination of a project)
